ah right, yeah this is decent to be fair. The heavy metal vibes help break up the monotony often found in thrash. Less reliant on its highlights and perhaps more consistently distinct

Oh agree. Very fond of this one myself and RiB may win the popular vote but I think Hell Awaits was the real game changer for the genre.
After those three it's steeply downwards imo.

Their first three albums (and including Haunting the Chapel!!) are the band at the top of their game imo. I definitely still gel with South of Heaven and to a lesser extent Seasons, but after that is where they really start losing me.

Slayer was one of the bands I listened to 24/7 in 87-88, South of Heaven came as a big turnoff...
