"I am colossus is the perfect album opener"

Yes it is good, but I will always reserve that honor for combustion.

Never really listened to Meshuggah, and I'm not usually into this kind of stuff, but I like this album.

It's like Sum. Perfect and minimal.

The Last Vigil is like the song you'd play after the world has crumbled into a barren, tumbleweed riddled wasteland.

Meshuggah's latest release left me with some mixed feelings. While it has some epic moments (I Am Colossus, Break Those Bones, Demiurge, The Last Vigil) the rest of the material is quite average and doesn't deserve the hype. Another interesting element is the whole simplicity of the record. I listened to it 3 times whithin 4 days and upon the third listen i remembered almost all the details of each song separately which means that the album doesn't really have a replay value, which is not a good thing. Talking about experimentation. The vocals btw, are hilarious and i cannot take them seriously. I was willing to give it another 2 listenings, but now that i'm thinking of it, i won't bother my self with this record again.

This album would be better as an instrumental. Uneven Structure's Februus > this.

This album would be better as an instrumental.

No way man. Any Meshuggah song instrumental would honestly be so boring.
