chan i was just referencing songs like what i want, though i would like a longer pth song but in the 8-10 minute range
busty i like the ending being calm, it's just the song itself just doesn't have that wow factor the rest of the album does. For a better reference then the long songs, i'd say look at TMV's Take the Veil Cerpin Taxt...that's what i want...something that not only finishes the album's concept somewaht logically, but that closes it in a way that feels like an end that does justice to everything else on the album...
Plateful closes the concept and pulls the elements together, but as a song does not have the power the rest of the album has...i'm kinda epeating myself so i'll just leave it at this...the kezia story parts (7-9) are the most gripping/emotional parts of the album wth The Divine Suicide of K. ending it in both a climatic but bittersweet way (musically though not storywise i guess) (with female vocals that fit...what a concept)...had that ended the album, it would have been a Classic...Plateful feels like almost filler because it doesn't serve the concept except explaining the band's position on the concept...it's just not necessary and pulls the album downThis Message Edited On 08.25.08

gang vocals with crazy riff at the one minute mark, slower riff at stupid flower part, well written lyrics, but whatevs. I dont need to try to prove you wrong or me right; you loved the album and gave it a 4.5, i just liked one more song than you, no biggie.
im doneee, kezia slays.

I feel the explanation of their position is unneccesary...had plateful been different and brought that last punch before fading to the peaceful acoustics, then maybe i'd think differently, but it doesn't and feels like it's there just to flesh the album out a bit rather than conclude it on a high note...
the calm ending would be much more powerful after a stronger "kill a stupid flower" part but since it doesn't reach that height it feels like filler and really isn't that different from ending at the soft outro of the divine suicide of k.
edit: agreed busty just trying to explain myself and my dislike of the closerThis Message Edited On 08.25.08

No!
I've honestly never had a gripe with any part of this album.

I've honestly never had a gripe with any part of this album. 123. i used to not like plateful either but eventually you realize this album is so close to perfect, that song included. my least favorite pth songs are on fortress anyway.

"Resurrected to be killed, and then maybe born again. I'll always be Kezia so long as any hope remains."
The last repetition of that with the female vocals and the chiming bells always gets me.
I have to agree with chan about it being the album's climax (even if its months since his post), Plateful is more of a summing up track.
Can't stop listening to this album at the moment. This Message Edited On 11.22.08This Message Edited On 11.22.08This Message Edited On 11.22.08

The vinyl also comes with exclusive artwork. I'd consider getting it but I probably wouldn't ever listen to it or anything so...

Love this band. Seriously. Only bad part is that they take away my favourite riffs within 2 bars of playing them- which is a shame (although this is more of a problem in "Fortress" than is this particular cd.) Favorite song would have to be...blindfolds aside at the mo, I reckon.

I love the ending of Blindfolds Aside. I kinda wish they'd used female vocals on Fortress, but with Rody's monumental leap in vocal ability they apparently didn't need them.

i might get this on vinyl for my hipster rep ya know?

My personal favorite album in a long time. Amazing guitar, even though you can hear three guitars, four with bass, it's still pretty good. Personal favorite is blindfolds aside.
