I've always liked how this seems to convey pure hate and anger much better than a lot of more musically extreme records. Corey's performance adds a lot to that.

I agree. There's no care for fitting any type of metal subgenre standards here. Total disregard. It is unfiltered hatred and it's grimy. Hell, the last track is a 15-minute dark, brooding, atmospheric song. A nu-metal band did that. How fuckin badass right?
