AF, are most of your 5's and 4.5's jokes?
|
| |
nope, why would they be? although, many of them are based on how much I liked them a few years back
and I don't listen to them anymore. most of the music I listen to these days is sputnik-approved. I
really don't listen to stuff like Three Days Grace anymore. even slipknot, I've barely listened to at
all in a year.
"extra .5 per useless 'drummer' right?"
more like insta-5

I cba
and even if something wears off, I won't necessarily bump it down
|

AF, you just inspired me to listen to this again to remind myself of how wrong you are

dude you haven't listened to some of your 5s in over year? that's fucked man, if I'm not into something anymore I downrate it accordingly. but different strokes etc.
|
| |
if something lasts 1 1/2 - 2 years + that's generally enough for me to keep it there. I still go back to them from time to time, it's not like I've completely left them behind, but I don't listen to them much.

You aren't supposed to rate things on how much you liked them in the past
It's how much you like them now geez
|

I mean, for me to 5 something, it would have to have had a lasting value of at least a year, which is why I never 5 or 4.5 albums on the initial rating, or at least very rarely
face it though, all music wears off at least a bit after a while, but you don't bump everything down
I might clean it up one day but meh
|
| |
i don't listen to my 5's THAT often. but i usually 5 something after i'm done obsessing over it

The Monitor NEVER wears off... never

"face it though, all music wears off at least a bit after a while"
um, no. that's not true at all. Wish You Were Here is still a classic (just to draw one example) and I've been jamming that for almost ten years now.

Same with me and Everything Goes Numb, going on 7 years

5s are like 4.5s just more emotional/personal and shit
|

I 5d Black Gives Way To Blue after I went back to it a few months ago and fell in love (temporarily) with it again. if music can still maintain that over the space of years, I don't see any reason to bump it down when it eventually does wear off.
tbh, looking at them, most of the 4.5s and 5s I have I still listen to from time to time. I'm not gonna bump it down just cos my music taste changes after a while

"um, no. that's not true at all. Wish You Were Here is still a classic (just to draw one example) and I've been jamming that for almost ten years now."
does it really still have the same effect that it did on you the first few times you listened to it? exactly the same?
well all my ratings are based on how much I enjoy them. even if I think something is objectively a 5, I might not necessarily rate it like that.
