Wish I could jump on the Obituary train, they just don’t really do it for me.

Yeah I kinda always thought Obituary were a bit overrated. I dig their first three but I don't think they're anything special really. Slowly We Rot is sick but not even in my top 50. CoD is good but Murphy is the main appeal of that album tbh. I dig the album artwork though.

If I want some Murphy I'd take Spiritual Healing over CoD in a second, but Disincarnate is my go-to Murphy for sure.

Dreams of the Carrion Kind, Cause of Death, and Death Shall Rise are my favorite murph albums

Murph does have some sick solos on CoD. Dreams is easily my fav Murph, sick album in general. But as I write this I realize it's a bit redundant for me to say that, since I think I said that in my other post. I love his stuff on Solstice's debut too.

I gotta check Death Shall Rise again though, I didn't really like it much but only spun it a few times. Kinda hard to forget that one song that's about incest or whatever, a bit weird to rock out to a song like that. "Keep it in the family" I think is the line idr which song it is lol

Yeah lol. The fact that the vocals are surprisingly intelligible doesn't help

I like Clandestine as much as this, but this guitar tone is unbeatable. m/

Yeah even if the riffs didn't rule (they do) I'd still check this occasionally for that sweet tone. Blew me away when I first heard it. Honestly has 5 potential, keep returning and enjoying the complete package more and more over time.

Stupid question, what is chainsaw dm

chainsaw dm refers to the records that employ the Swedish HM-2 pedal for the guitar tone. Early at the gates, entombed, dismember, carnage, etc records all used it. the sound is commonly referred to as the "Swedish chainsaw"
