Review from me would look like a 4, great album but fuck We Got The Power and some tracks don't reach the astronomical heights of others.

Things just fall apart after The Non-Conformist Oath.
Ascension is so frantic and it really sets up a neat image of some kinda concept for the album to drive on.
Strobelite is a jam for days and Everett is sn amazing vocalist.
Saturn Barz has a really good grit to it and kinda shares that same frantic/dark tone of Ascension.
Momentz is quirky but the production of it hits hard enough to follow suite of the other tracks.
But after that things get os sloppy. Submission is a waste of a Danny Brown feature, who should translate really well into Gorillaz when looking at his goofy presentation on songs like Franki Sinatra (Avalanches) and Ego Death (Busdriver) but its the most standard and boring thing he's done. As it goes on the rest of the tracks range from "eh" to "WHY" with a few good ones hiding here and there. Bad decisions made, too. Like, D.R.A.M. is one of the goofiest guys out there right now but his only contribution to the album are barely noticeable vocals in the hooks of Andromeda? He screams "Gorillaz".
It just straight up sounds like they lost focus after that sixth track and had no idea how to fit in vocalists and if they wanted to be really gorillaz-y and concept driven or if they wanted to be a faceless producer tag for their guest vocalists. So you get all these songs that are just torn between balancing both production philosophies and it's a mess.

Submission is fantastic top to bottom tbh
Sex Murder Party and Power are the bad tracks
|
| |
Good: Ascension, Strobelite, Saturnz Barz, Momentz, Andromeda, She's My Collar, Hallelujah Money
Bad: Charger, Carnival, Sex Murder Party, We Got The Power, all interludes
Everything else is just w/e.

Sex murder party might be one of gorillaz worst songs for me

I kinda wish Humanz didn't exist tbh
should've taken the best 5-6 songs and made a killer EP instead

Sex Murder Party is another grower for me, liked it a lot more after 2-3 more listens.
Tho I'll agree that Danny's ft. is underwhelming.

Sex murder party might be one of gorillaz worst songs for me [2]
the features especially just sound so bored I literally don't know why they're there, one dude just says "sex murder... sex murder party" a few times and then he's gone it's like how did this make the album
having said that Busted and Blue, Submission, She's My Collar, Hallelujah Money are 5/5 for me

agreed with your good and bad cl0ver except Carnival isn't too shabby, just needed to be longer cos it ends so quick, but the guest vocals are really nice

"Like, D.R.A.M. is one of the goofiest guys out there right now but his only contribution to the album are barely noticeable vocals in the hooks of Andromeda? He screams "Gorillaz"."
I feel this so hard. I remember when I first heard Andromeda, it seemed like a beat very unfit for D.R.A.M.'s endless charisma. He didn't even come through with some decent crooning, which he's proven he's capable of, and is barely noticeable. I still think the track is ok, but it was easily the most disappointing of the 4 singles.

One of the female collaborators should have been used for Andromeda instead. D.R.A.M. actually did have a verse on it, but Albarn cut it cause it didn't work for the song (like, fucking obviously ya barney). D.R.A.M. also believe it or not actually sings backing vocals on We Got the Power too, with Damon and Noel

album as a whole has this sense that damon really had no idea how to utilize the vocalists he has on hand. on top of that i just felt like this album could've been a lot darker/quirkier in vein with Demon Days, but it just kinda goes through the motions.

Benjamin Clementine is actually surprisingly comfortable on Hallelujah Money.
Jenny Beth is probably the most awkward collab though, she sounds soooo out of place

i dunno how well this thought will settle, but i feel like Benjamin Clementine is the one vocalist who really fits in the most with Gorillaz and the general sense of sound this album was aiming for. And the bridge of the song with 2D really sounds like everything coming to an end. Drifting off in some void in space, slowly dying, everything is calm and peaceful. It all sounds really good when looking at the album as a whole.
