You act like that riff is extremely avant-garde or progressive or something. It's an awesome riff, but it's not that technical or anything.

Maybe not, but someone else prob wouldn't have been able to make it sound as awesome.

I gave Spiral Architect a go and can I definitely say that there is a cello and lots of keyboards in the mix. There might also be a string ensemble. I searched the net and read the booklet from the album. But no matter how hard I looked, I couldn't find a reference about violins.
