Then maybe you shouldn't have tried to make it seem as if the purpose of the US army in Iraq is to kill innocent people. It's not. And the fact is, Iraq will be a better place without Saddam.

But i don't care about that. I'm really just interested in maintaining the petrodollar.

That innocents die in war is an inevitability. Your comparison is flawed on pretty much every level, not least of all because i didn't say it was "okay".

YesConsiderably, haven't you learned that THIS IS SPUTNIK
Everything you say here WILL be criticized, so long as it's serious. So stop being serious, or stop getting offended.

Just because the general population of Sputnik doesn't take very real-world issues seriously doesn't mean some of its users can't. You people need to stop confusing assertiveness on political/religious/war issues for a lack of a sense of humor.

Fuckers

YesConsiderably and strikey may be having an argument that most of you would rather not get involved in but that's more a show of your character rather than theirs'. Let them have at it. I'm sick of everyone's passivism. This Message Edited On 05.18.09

It's not an argument
It's an internet war. Those are no fun, and honestly pretty dumb, as it always eventually just degrades into a case of each person saying they're better and the other person's opinion is dumb.
See:

Then reassess who the "imbecile" is here.

In case you can't be bothered, the answer is you.

"srsly wasn't an argument i was just explaining why i was right."

You did an incredibly poor job of it. You have the political and economic understanding of a grapefruit. Your logic skills are severely lacking, also.

"i love reading music discussions on music sites"

Do you seriously not see how the Iraq topic is relevant to any discussion on this album? Billy's childlike view of the world ruined what might have been an enjoyable album.

I suggest you educate yourself on either Saddam Hussein, or the definition of the word innocent.

Spoken like a man who forgets Saddam had our implicit financial & military support at the height of his atrocities (ie., the gassing of the Kurds in 1988-89). Look it up Captain Facts.

Bush is a monster and war criminal. Aside from his blatant disrespect and disregard for international law and basic morality, he installed the Patriot Act which has completely circumvented our Constitution and civil rights. Aside from that, he has caused more damage to the environment than any President in U.S. history. He abrogated more international treaties than any President in history. A poll taken all across the world stated that the majority of the world population felt that GWB was the biggest threat to freedom and peace in the world. More people protested against his wars and actions than any man in history, including despots and dictators like Stalin, Hitler, Pol Pot, Mao Zedong, etc. His policies of deregulation towards the stock market and big business in general have directly caused possibly the worst economic collapse since the Great Depression. He has made our country hated around the world (and we were never that popular to begin with).

The 2000 election was made possible by the biggest voter fraud scandal in history (the stealing of the vote by the Republican Party), which was then repeated in 2004 with similar results (this was all widely reported everywhere, with iron-clad proof provided, except in the USA). He bankrupted our Treasury in his first year of office by passing a 1.4 trillion dollar tax cut that benefitted only the top 10% of the richest Americans - his base. His "No Child Left Behind" has allowed children who were not smart enough or good enough to advance through schools on a fast-track. He cozied up to the Saudis throughout his presidency despite overwhelming evidence that their government funded the 9/11 attacks and may even have perpetrated the act directly. His entire administration has been example after example of crony capitalism. His unwillingness to act on repeated intelligence reports warning of an attack on American soil helped bring about the worst terrorist attack this country has ever had. His administration has repeatedly lied, obfuscated the truth, and has even committed acts of perjury to cover up their actions. So I guess my question is... what fucking planet have you been on the last eight years?

The only good thing Bush did was doom the Republican Party for years by getting "re-elected" in 2004.

YesConsiderably handing out the ownage.

Edit: But seriously, as I have no knowledge in politics I'm not gonna comment on who I think is right in this debate.

Funny, most Iraqis seem to disagree about that. According to Human Rights Watch, a total of around 290,000 Iraqis died under Saddam's rule, which was over a 25+ year period. In the span of six years, the American invasion and occupation has claimed a minimum of 300,000 lives, with some reports topping 1 million casualties. Here's a link for you to chew on: http://www.wsws.org/articles/2009/apr2009/iraq-a28.shtml

Maybe you should think about maintaining an interest in an alternate energy source that isn't the epicenter of every war fought in the last 20 years, or perhaps think about how you'd feel if your relatives got firebombed and called "collateral damage" on the nightly news. I know you're the type that thinks the world revolves around us, but we'll see how that sentiment goes in 10 years when we'll be relegated to being China's garden. We don't have the money to continue our empire and that's blatantly obvious. The only thing we have going is our military, and the minute China, Saudi Arabia, India, Japan etc. stop buying our treasury bonds, we're screwed completely. This Message Edited On 05.19.09

lol, you can tell this from my three-line response or whatever, can you? My logic skills are fine, thanks; it's you that consistently manages to draw flawed conclusions from unrepresentative evidence. Your arrogance, of course, is a contributor. Tell me, do you have friends away from the internet?

Economically I have no idea what I'm talking about but philosophically I'm well read and I'm fairly sure most people would disagree with your apparent belief that it's fine to kill people as long as your country becomes more rich from it.

Since the new album came out I realized that I haven't listened to this easily over a year. Benn meaning to listen to it again just to see what my impression is after all this time but I'm not sure where the album is.
