ranking aphex for me is pretty tough because all of his stuff (barring drukQs) is super inconsistent.
I'd say drukQs > Syro = saw 85-92 > I care = RDJ = SAW II
and re: confield being strange - yeah, that's kind of the point. listen to autechre's material in chronological order, you'll better be able to grasp the ridiculous amount of stylistic ground they cover with each album.

I'd recommend Amber (slightly more ambient-focused than Tri Repetae) or Chiastic Slide (slightly more beat-focused). LP5 starts veering off into weird robot rhythms with heavy emphasis on glitching electronics and i wouldn't recommend it until someone is a little more familiar with autechre
