"What's the best post-mellon collie Pumpkins album?"
Adore, a.k.a. the only post Mellon Collie album I like
90s Pumpkins or die.

Gonna bump this to a 4.5, this and Siamese Dream are pretty much on a par.

Machina II is the best post-Mellon Collie. Try to listen past the lack of production gloss.

Machina 2 is fucking awesome. Here's to the atom bomb, let me give the world to you, real love, innocence, in my body. A lot of great songs on there. Plus the stripped down version of try is much better than the machina 1 version imo

Really need to listen to something other than this or Siamese Dream from the Pumpkins. I've just heard so many bad things.

Think I jammed Gish one time but found it didn't strike me immediately. Will try again, and give Adore a go as well, I'm intrigued by it's apparent gothic sound.

It's more of a soft, acoustic album but still good

Gish is excellent but it's not as amazing and life-changing as the three albums after, I have to admit.

Yeah, I literally only listened to Mellon Collie properly about two weeks ago. I had heard the obvious ones such as 1979 and Tonight Tonight. Been pretty much the only thing I've been listening to recently.

I don't remember who said it, but someone pointed out that the first 4 smashing pumpkins albums sound like they represent a season of the year. Gish is spring, Siamese Dream is summer, Mellon Collie is fall, and Adore is winter.
It makes these albums way more interesting in that mindset, because it really does feel like it's a progressive cycle of feel and emotion through the seasons.
