t/t sucks though don’t care what anyone says

I wouldn’t say it sucks. I do like it, but it’s overrated. Agree that the chorus feels too predictable and safe.

It doesn't suck and isn't overrated either

This is the album I point people towards if they're looking to get into Deftones.

It's a great amalgamation of everything the band offers.

Probably their most accessible record too.

Agreed Pleb. This was my first Deftones album and have loved them ever since. So I totally agree that this is a great entry point before checking out WP, ATF, SNW etc

Well my friend used to hate Deftones, couple of others too as they found Chino's vocals grating (I know lol, imagine.)

This album changed one friends mind though, said the vocals just clicked on this record and he's finally digging their back catalogue.

Yeah I can understand people not digging Chino's vocals at first, but yeah his vocals are at his most accessible here.

Love his vocals on all their albums btw

well, the first track of every deftones album is kinda simple (and a little boring) compared to the rest - except Feiticeira. That's why I can tolerate the title track, Prayers/Triangles, Swerve City etc.

Tbqh i too was just familiar with his Around The Fur stuff and thought it was muffled/whispery clean vox and harsh vox all the time - the whispery vox bothered me on those tracks.

I was very close to passing off Deftones entirely. What made me check them out was listening to Diamond Eyes at my good friends house about 3,5 years ago - so no hate from me about that song

Beauty school risk and butcher are the standouts here. The more I go back and listen to diamond eyes as a whole the more it annoys me. Quite a safe album after snw, the latter has definitely aged better I believe

Royal, Prince, Sextape and 976-Evil are all bangers too

Prince is probably my favorite of the album, but the entire album flows so well

Agree that this is a pretty safe album, imo it makes up for it with consistently excellent songwriting but it does have more of a polished, big-budget-rock-album feel to it than any of their other albums and I wouldn't blame anyone for being turned off by that

it definitely is a safer album for them, but I appreciate that because this is the album that got me into Deftones for that very reason

Same here man, it's still my favorite of theirs by a pretty comfortable margin

it's definitely up there as my favorite, but it's a revolving door between this, White Pony, and Koi No Yokan for the top 3
