More than being bad a lot of this was just boring. The weird, shoe-horned goofy parts are off-putting at best and the vocals and guitars are so flat that I could change around the track list and hardly notice. Still, it riffs decently, it's pretty fun, and I don't hate it. Just really overhyped

Alaska is way better

Damn, that's a weird take. Appropriate of a Hapsburg though

Nah it's the proper take. This shit is a barrage of bland techy riffs, until the band gets aware how soporific the whole thing's getting, so they throw in a totally out of place bluegrass break, and then use that as validation for a 6 minute wank solo.

Boring as hell listen

Far from perfect, but at least Great Misdirect had the sense to allow more than one catchy riff per album

Agreed with porcupinetheater.

TGM is probably their best album since Alaska, but that doesn't say much because it competes with this travesty and the butt prog worship evident on parallax onwards.

I really don't get why they remix and remaster this record, it already sounds really good. They gotta change this very slightly or they'll just make it sound worse haha

lmao
porc should i drop my rating or keep it? this is dumb and should be lower vs. I have lateralus 3'd and that being on the same tier as btbam feels like maybe the more worthwhile slam

Lateralus is an easy 3 so yeah good call, that album might be a chore to sit through all the way but the execution is kinda there so its not unenjoyable
