Yeah sergio got fucked. It'd be one thing if all he did was play bass and that's it but the dude seemed to be writing a lot of material as well. Gore in particular was exclusively written by Chino/Sergio per Stephen.



And like, not to tell people how to grieve but like... Chi passed almost 10 years ago now, and the coma started like 15 years ago iirc. Don't feel like that excuse should pass the smell test at this point in time. It's purely money related as Sergio said himself basically. Now whether that's up to the band themselves or their management is up for discussion but I have a hard time believing Sergio is shafted the way he was if the Chino and co. actually wanted to do right by him

It's probably a sour thing to point out, but Deftones skyrocketed to even more popularity after Chi's passing, and with the addition of Sergio as their bass player. People place albums like Diamond Eyes, KNY and Ohms as some of Deftones best work over their entire career.

And as far as Eros goes I can understand them stopping and withholding the release whilst chi was comatose and focusing on another project but now that he’s passed what good is it to keep his final project in the dark? Wouldn’t it seem right to honour his legacy by releasing something he had poured his passion into?

I could understand if his parts were incomplete because perhaps he wouldn’t have wanted them released in that stage but apparently the instrumentation for the album was complete and half the vocal tracks were.



Smile is my favourite deftones track and I feel like it would be a disservice to the fans if they never released at least the completed half

It sucks, I always knew Stef was a dipshit but Chino seemed like a really chill dude. That shit he said on mixr or whatever the fuck its called has made me really lose a lot of respect for him.

despite there being artists who have done far far far worse things, the whole sergio situation really has turned me off from them. yeah every artist wants to make money at the end of the day but all this talk about "management" and "contracts" from both sides makes them feel more like a corporate entity than a band.

I mean you could teach someone yeah, but coming up with them is a whole different ballgame. He has written many iconic riffs for the band that may be simple, but are just cool as fuck.

Chino is a better guitarist than Steph, Steph is good for chugging but Chino writes more of the softer stuff which is the more interesting aspect of their music. Also from what I've heard Chino is a chill guy, but the band themselves all have such wildly different views on things there's a lot of conflict between them
