"So? I doubt most people check recording dates before listening to a band."

But chances are that they'd heard about BTBAM before they heard about those other bands. If anything those band names make them sound like BTBAM clones., which they're sadly not.

On the other hand, I always associate BTBAM with ...And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead.

Man, I tried several times to like Colors but I feel that the really good moments are always sandwiched by chugga chugga boredom. I don't know, I don't give it a negative rating cos it may click sooner or later.

To us BTBAM may be as mainstream as it gets, but ask the average person in the street about them and you'll most likely get a "huh" look in response
Ask them about BMTH and they're more likely to know a song or two

BTBAM had albums that charted in the US before either of the other two, but maybe your understanding of mainstream means something other than popular.

"In terms of songs, band hasn't written a better one than Selkies tho

I used to jam mordecai a lot in HS. haven't listened to either song in years but I used to prefer it to selkies, despite the clean vocals

Since today there are!

"I used to jam mordecai a lot in HS."

Damn haven't listened to that one in years
Sometimes I even forget there's a BTBAM before Alaska and one after Parallax II

It might just be nostalgia but I’d rather listen to the first 2 over anything that came after, especially TSC. Of their main era I prefer TGM

Tbh the Automata albums are just slightly under PII and TGM for me. Coma is the only serious dip in quality they’ve had imo

No, you are absolutely right. The first three are their best, easily.

Nostalgia is probably it. Because Colors to PII is clearly their peak. Automata is decent too.

Colors was the first BTBAM I heard.
