Nah. I'd never bothered with the band until this album, which I've really enjoyed. But that's because I really like Aaron Turner's approach to songwriting and his vocal style. I know others recommended their discography but I frankly don't have much interest in their old stuff if this album is one of the best things they've ever done. Unless someone disagrees, I can't see how this album isn't a cohesive vision of the band's overall sound based off what I've read in this thread. Even Neurosis fans consider this a top quality album. So, by that measure, if this one doesn't appeal to you then their old stuff probably won't either.

Hold on let’s not be confidently wrong here. Their old stuff holds one of the best sludge metal albums of all time. Big difference to where this needs time to settle among the metal consciousness.

I like this - I don't really like a single older song from anything I've sampled. Partly because of the amazing production here contrasting their older stuff. PArtly because they show a lot of restraint here, it's not always so ceaselessly agressive.

Steve Albini's production is top tier. I don't know how someone wouldn't their like older albums based on their sound.

Well I think the older albums sound pretty bad. But it's more the style I'm, not the biggest fan of. I listened on Youtube, maybe that's it

I listened to my first jam of Through Silver on speakers and it was a totally different experience on a good pair of headphones on my revisit imo. The older albums fuckin rip from what I've heard

They can legitimately be said to have one of the best and most consistent discographies in all music.
