"I’ve spun this a few times. I really want to like it more. I’ve just never been a big fan of the band. Blasphemy right?"
Nah. I'd never bothered with the band until this album, which I've really enjoyed. But that's because I really like Aaron Turner's approach to songwriting and his vocal style. I know others recommended their discography but I frankly don't have much interest in their old stuff if this album is one of the best things they've ever done. Unless someone disagrees, I can't see how this album isn't a cohesive vision of the band's overall sound based off what I've read in this thread. Even Neurosis fans consider this a top quality album. So, by that measure, if this one doesn't appeal to you then their old stuff probably won't either.
