I was so mad when they made Hell 99 a single. I had the promo a month in advance. Imagine hearing Secret History and Hell 99 back to back for the first time.

I think Barking would’ve been a great single. But honestly I’m not too upset by it. Secret History alone left me breathless, I probably would’ve had a fucking heart attack if I heard those two back to back with no warning.
I’m just glad Looks Like Nothing and Gratitude weren’t singles, I’m legitimately never going to forget hearing them for the first time.

I was driving home from work and nearly had to pull over lol. Pure insanity.
All I'd heard before the promo was Greyhound.

I still find it absolutely mind boggling that Eric evidently did not want Gratitude on the album and it’s grown to probably be my absolute favorite thing they’ve ever done. This record just speaks to how fucking dejected and apathetic I’ve felt lately. Had this come out right after NMG I don’t think I would be so in love with it. It’s very much hit me at the perfect time.
It leaves me thinking where can they possibly go from here? I feel like they’ve covered such an insane amount of ground across just five records. I mean, that’s a lot of material but I can’t think of another band that’s done this much genre hopping and not only has it all been great, but as they’ve progressed they’ve never felt like they’re switching it up just for the sake of it. (But sowing I do feel like the inevitable Brand New comparison is kinda apt)
I love these guys sm, forget aoty, album of the fucking decade imo

gratitude is best song agreed, but when I saw them live and they played spit, I fell in love with it. Spit was just fine to me before and then I saw it live and was like ok this song is fucking sick
