Nah Bodega Head totally fits the vibe because John Protagonist is about to end it, and going mostly cleans is a logical switch up to tell the listener something's off when the album is mostly harsh vox.

i saw these guys before clairvoyant and it was such an insane show. they were a 3 piece and the drummer was ridiculous, although the rest of the band was also super good and were just more restrained in their playing. i remember it sound just like the records but 10x better. they've always been one of the best bands doing this kind of music and they hit just the right compromise between being atmospheric and visceral. we are really lucky that they have kept at it despite some periods of inactivity.
