The breakdown on Suffocate is insane, love when it slows down/goes backwards.
Im definitely gonna go through their full discography, I might start with the EP then go lp 1-2-3. This one’s great. Any of their albums considered their best? The EP seems to be highly regarded.

My favorite part on the album is when Bryan comes back in after the breakdown in Suffocate. That song itself is just perfect.
@Larkin - This is considered their best LP but A Different Shade of Blue is well-liked too.

Yeah I listened to this and Tear, both incredible. Sit and Mourn is a hell of a closer.

I still like that Blue album more tbh
My friend who got me into them still prefers Pop Culture and Laugh Tracks and I fight with her all the time because it makes no sense to me lol

Well after listening to this once again, I really wish they would incorporate more atmospherics into their tried and true sound as in Sit & mourn, which is the best track on here. While being ignorantly heavy it rarely offers anything else besided the usual wall of sound, making this fairly undynamic.

yeah, they're mostly only interested in peeling your face off on this one. But Sit & Mourn has been such a hit that I'm pretty sure they will do more stuff like that in the future

pop culture ep is also essential listening imo. "all my friends" is one of their best for sure

I had the exact same thoughts. Love the album but Sit and Mourn shows some atmospheric diversity that I think they can nail and will really contribute to their sound in a big way. But with the LP being 30 minutes, the relentless pummeling doesn’t become rote or same-y. Shit, even suffocate pushes their sound more imo, shows they’re moving in a certain direction that is still decidedly heavy, but I wouldn’t be surprised at all if their next album is their best (granted I’ve only listened to this and Tear, but from what I’ve read their heavy sound has stayed mostly the same.
So what, there’s Pop culture, upon loss, tear in the fabric, laugh tracks, blue and this? Are those the essentials/what I should check out?
