j cole's friendly "were a big 3!" attitude and drake's sneak dissing is so fucking funny juxtaposed to kendrick just outright bullying them lmao

He needs a little competition from time to time to get him fired up, but I can’t wrap my mind around anyone who puts him and Drake in the same conversation

lol yeah i think its more they themselves that do that rather than actual rap fans. drake is jealous he isn't respected like kendrick... while drake's 'sales = quality' posturing totally gets under kendrick's skin.
"prince outlived mike jack" is such a hard line in that context lmao

it's ridiculous to put them in the same conversation, agreed, especially given the quality of their output and their role in creating the songs as well. I might be under the wrong impression, but through reading some of the drake discourse, as far as I'm aware, he doesn't even write his own stuff?

Have you been under a rock for the last 10 years haha
Drake has employed multiple very talented ghostwriters throughout his career. It’s been pointed to as a knock on him since the Meek beef, and is why he should never, ever be put into any GOAT convo.
Cole’s mixtape era was better than Kendrick’s, but that’s all I can say in his favor. Kendrick has outpaced him since s.80 in every conceivable way
All of this being said, I think it’s simultaneously really dumb, but really hilarious, that Kendrick cooked Cole over an otherwise forgettable bar. Every rapper thinks they’re the best, it’s part of the job description.

the prince outlived mike jack line implies that michael wasn’t making fantastic music that was outselling every other person in the world tho

in fact i would argue kendrick is more similar to michael than prince due to his slow output and reclusiveness as well as his impactfulness

Are people gonna write drake disses thinking it’s an original idea until the year 2150? most definitely
|

it is the year of our lord 2024 I do not care about decade old rap beefs

"prince outlived mike jack" implies to me that while drake/mj had a million hits and sold more albums than anyone... kendrick/prince made "real art" that will maintain relevance far longer. granted this is selling mj a bit short obv.
also think he's speaking to the way he/prince are universally perceived as "generational artists" and nothing more... while drake/mj's celebrity ate away at their artistry. those guys are known for all the weirdo bullshit they did almost as much as they are for their music. so many punchlines at their expense.

I’m sorry Kendrick has absolutely nothing on prince that comparison is such foo foo lame shit.
|

prince and MJ are such rap buzzwords
|

like remember when future thought he was jimi hendrix? lmao
|
| |
maybe a hot take but I think modern rappers have more in common with Bob Dylan than hendrix mj and prince. Not gonna elaborate

All mumble rappers should be invited to a private party in some desert, a big wall should be built around them and then we should let real rappers 'drop bombs' on them. Lyrically speaking of course. Maybe that will convince them to stop making this crap.
