Finally settled on a rating after digesting this for a few weeks.



The highs are incredible. Some songs are too long for their own good. Album drags a bit. Pretty intense listen and while American teenager is one of my favorite songs, it doesn't really fit with the rest of the record. Production all around is immaculate and her voice is legendary.



American teenager, thoroughfare, hard times and sun bleached fires are standouts for me. Beautiful album.

i also love how the last 2.5 mins of Throughfare turns into a little California-esque hippy jam. really cool compositional choice that fits the story of the song. all sorts of cool touches like that on this album

This album is remarkably bland at times and yet it contains some stellar tracks. I hope she has a bit more going on musically in future releases, even if the atmosphere here is mostly great

I love ptolemaea cause her shriek is bone chilling and that song is metal as fuck
