god, i really havent heard Bialystok and Cold Blooded since theyve come out and they are both!!! okay. there's like ALMOST something here with both of them. Cold Blooded is actually pretty good and way closer to a Foxingified pop song as is what the album mostly is. Bialystok is like...almost catchy but not catchy enough.
also At Least We Found The Floor's chorus is fine but underwhelming, verse is great. this one could've been a classic. really love the lyrics doe

Beacons has sky rocketed to the top of my rankings; 737 has fallen off a bit in favor of 1/2/3. I dont remember what Cold Blooded or Bialystok sound like so I will jsut leave them at the bottom.

looks fun
1. 737
2. Speak With the Dead
3. If I Believed in Love
4. Go Down Together
5. Beacons
6. Draw Down The Moon
7. Cold Blooded
8. Bialystok
9. At Least We Found The Floor
10. Where The Lightning Strikes Twice
10 might be their worst song, I don’t particularly love 9 either, it’s a nice little breather but not much more. 8 and 7 are fine. 1-6 are fucking incredible, so it’s a real shame that four of them dropped as singles before the album and Beacons was played a bunch live before the record dropped.
I think 737 is still so high for me is because it was so goddamn unexpected, shit hit me like a train. The drop in that song is fucking unreal. And lyrically tying together every song was honestly kinda brilliant. 737 really might be my favorite opening track of theirs, but competition is so stiff between that, Grand Paradise, and Secret History. They really didn’t fuck around with openers on their last few albums…

737 wins intro song for me, shit will always hit like a fucking truck. first half has such nice chords too, what a pretty song.
Lightning is awesome, i'll never get the amount of hate it gets

where the lightning strikes and at least we found the floor existing anywhere other than the bottom two slots is something i just can't compute. both of those are just abysmal imo.

lightning has one of the worst hooks I've heard in my entire life

I feel like that was their attempt to break through with radio rock audiences and it didn’t work out.
It’s not terrible. At least not as bad as a lot of the shit you’d hear on the radio. It’s like a less shitty version of Imagine Dragons. The hook is pretty lazy, it’s not particularly creative from a songwriting perspective, riffs are eh, and it just happens to have a good solo.
Song is like a 5/10. I wouldn’t be annoyed if one of my friends put it on but I could honestly go the rest of my life without hearing it and be totally fine with it.

But I am really hoping they don’t play it at these last two shows because I fuckin checked out mentally when they played it at the record release show

What is really cool is that we agree this album has the same 6 good songs and 4 clunkers lol.

Idk if I’d go that far but yeah it’s pretty much unanimous on what tracks are “good” lol
I still like Bialystok and Cold Blooded and WOULD NOT be upset if they got played at these final shows
But I mean they’re deep cuts on their failed attempt-at-a-breakthrough album so I don’t think they’re gonna see the light of day… I just really hope they play the 6 you’re talking about. The lows here are pretty low but the highs here reach just as high as any other album in their discography.
GOATED band for me. I don’t really care if yall wanna argue I love these guys so much.

Did they publically share that this was an "attempt at a breakthrough"? I hear what you are saying for sure. Bummer it didn't quite work. The best 6 songs here really would have made for a 4.5 EP. Definitely prefer most of their other work over this though.

Nah I’m just saying what I think.
But I do live in STL and there was some talk of them trying to get some play on the local alternative station around that time. They’d already played one of their Christmas shows so that was kinda the next logical step.
this is all like third hand talk tho, I don’t know any of the guys in the band personally.

Fuck 105.7 the Point for not giving these guys the time of day is at the heart of what I’m saying.
Fucking assholes. I really don’t get it. Go Down Together, Where the Lightning Strikes Twice, and the title track are prime for that station. They play plenty of shit in that same style that’s much worse already smh
