the two upside-down album cover photographs in a row bothers me. they're not similar enough for it to be cool

@ Strike, I think I gave Sweetener a 3, so it’s a half point in a positive direction. This one felt more consistent than Sweetener.

@ Strike, I'm still trying to regain some semblance of confidence in today's pop, and if it takes baby steps like this, then I'm not gonna rush it lol.

Just upped my rating because this is so pleasing—five albums and four of them are 4/5s?? Easily my favorite pop star

"don't want you in my bloodline" is the best lyric for a pop chorus imaginable

"bloodline" rules but i can't remember the rest

"bloodline" sort of ends the streak of the first three songs to me, because I think those three songs are amazing (although I didn't like "imagine" that much when it was first released). "bloodline" ain't bad though--none of them are, really. "7 rings" is pretty silly but sonically still pleasing in the manner of the rest of the album; "in my head" is relatively weak but then the vocal hook is awesome

i do remember disliking "7 rings"

usually this kind of sentiment applies to songs that are a little more serious or that forego surface pleasures for deeper virtues or whatever, so it might sound silly, but I like "7 rings" better in the context of the album than as a single. it's not great though

i don't think it's necessary that the song be serious or deep or sumthing, it just needs the backing of the other songs' aesthetics sometimes
