meant to post this for the one dude who was also trying to cover this a while back. it's a drum cover of vice wave. took me months to get it down. really fun and challenging song. wish i could record on my acoustic kit but the electric will have to do for now. enjoy if anyone watches.

I listened to this again. Still doesn't do much for me, though the drumming is incredible. Also the spoken word samples here are vapid and cringe. Sorry.

at least you can like parts of it and it's not a "5 or 1"

@jmh: what would you say is the most difficult song to cover on that album drumwise? Aric once said it is Copper Wasp.

well i only tried the one haha so just purely based on listening i would probably guess copper wasp, mostly because that intro is fucking insane. pretty impressive watching him do that live.

Awesome cover man, looked spot on. Nailed that funky hihat part, the toughest part of the song imo. That the td30? Got the td50 myself, love those things.

Thanks man. The parts themselves are 100% accurate as I studied his playthrough tirelessly. The performance is more like 85% haha as I struggle to keep speed in some spots. If I slow it down I can play it much cleaner. He's a fast player. But yea I spent all day on that hihat part and it was very rewarding. Crazy fun difficult beat.

And it's the 25 KV. I have no need for any of the models above that though I'm sure they are amazing. The brain's are just excessive haha. I plug in one kit and never change it. I also use midi through steven slate and I can get more kits if needed. Roland electric kits changed my life though. Been living in row homes for years and would have no way to drum otherwise without pissing off the whole neighborhood.

also that funky part is tough but i think the tom part is wayy tougher at full speed.

Interesting, I thought the tom part was the easiest. With our powers combined we'd be the perfect pseudo-Aric haha. Glad I'm not the only one studying his stuff like a madman; I transcribed parts of Copper Wasp because it was just too fast to go by ear. It's not perfect but I'll send it your way later.

Feel you on the excessiveness. But 75% of the reason I got the td50 is because of the digital ride and snare. They respond nearly as well as the real thing, it's crazy.

And not just a drum thing, but I can't figure out what sound his pads are making at https://youtu.be/2j5gFtAzoX0?t=231. So much going on that it's hard to point out that sound

I thought you started pretty poor, but I guess it's the 25 recording quality? Then you picked it up, some parts were really top notch! I could probably play this with a rock band/guitar hero chart, lol.

No chance I can memorize all of it.

thanks clavier. helped immensely that aric posted a playthrough video. and i'd probably agree lunaticsoul, that snare groove at the beginning gave me trouble sometimes. i can play it perfectly sometimes but then when i start recording it's a little off. the mesh pads can make ghost notes a little difficult sometimes when compared to a real drum head. but i am also not a perfectionist and that was probably my best attempt when recording so i just said fuck it.

i've got a TD17 and I can barely play along the playthrough. you seemed to a great job on hitting the ghost on that really fast snare/hi-heat beat in the middle though!

This is mesmerizing in terms of how awesome it is. I prefer this to anything Animals as Leaders have done.

Mmmh.... I'd probably put Joy of Motion on par if not over this. Two top tier instrumental discs though
