I get that bands need to move on from their past stuff and mature but this is like backwards... If they had released this after TOCS then it would make total sense.

Nah In Motion does. 2nd best is On My Teeth. Then Hold Your Breath. Loneliness is up there too. Tbh for such a poppy album they kinda shat the bed when it came to hooks.

The more I listen to this, the more I like it. It doesn't really sound like Underoath, but that doesn't mean it's bad. It kind of reminds me of 'Darkest Day' Stabbing Westward meets the 'Element' period of Thrice.

not really a fan of this about halfway through...the catchy choruses are nice but I feel like they've lost their edge and are just trying to make up for it by cursing more

My thoughts exactly. The frequent F bombs here are compensating for the lack of intensity... which Disambiguation did a million times better without cursing. Lol.

yeah...and don't get me wrong, I have no problem with cursing - it's just that this is like 33% less intense and all of the sudden a christian metal band starts dropping f-this and f-that, just feels like such a manufactured attempt to get some poor 13 year old to be like, "man, that's so badass"
melodies are catchy, though

These guys were barely a Christian band on their last three albums. Certainly not blatant about it. Besides, if they've moved on from that shit, it's not contrived to for them to have changed their language since they're not bound by the same rules anymore. It's definitely less intense, but would a fourth album of that intensity be worth a damn or would everyone just be whining about how lazy it was of them to rehash the same sound after so many years? For what it is, it is really good. It's basically a new page for the band. Something they can sustain as they get old(er).

They should’ve written more songs like This Has to Start Somewhere, Bloodlust, Sink With You and No Frame
