it might not be about cutting himself but its obviously about self-harm.
"Yeah, agreed. The 'at the bottom of the ocean...' line makes me cringe so hard I originally deleted the song. eventually, after hearing everyone gush over that song, I went in and edited that part out in audacity in a way that the song still flows well."
lmao, yeah not an overreaction at all.

it ruins the song, and is overall a blight on an otherwise flawless album.
took me five minutes to edit it out. now I love the song

you cant handle less than 10 seconds of a direction you dont like in an "otherwise flawless album"?

what if that one correction makes it flawless in his mind though?
i used to do shit like that all the time with audacity. i even made frances the mute listenable.

everyone in this thread tryin to be better than brand new lol. if the music is good, who cares if they throw a dumbass throwaway line that I'd almost guarantee is some sort of inside joke that makes them laugh their own asses off. It's just a fun little line in an album they clearly had a blast making

yeah i can't stand when people treat this place like it's some sort of music review site.
also i'm pretty sure cliiint only edited his copy of the album. check yours and see if it's any different.

lol. my point is its like -.1 on a 5.0 song that's still 4.9

everyone has their own method of judging art my dude. your way's not wrong and neither is his.

I don't mind the delivery, the line itself is dumb though. Outside of guitar, stuff Vin does isn't my cup of tea. Still like that tune though.

"Heaven forbid an artist pushes your emotional comfort zone lmao"
'emotional comfort zone'? what are you talking about?
it actually makes me cringe, and makes the whole song a joke. what's emotional about it?

Noler, to use the same logic you are; it's only a few seconds of vocals keeping it at a 4.9... why not make a quick edit? With it left in, I'm thinking about the whole song. It's distracting.
It's not as if I pitch shifted lit me up because the whole song is sort of monotone. Or sped up 137 because the first half is such a long build up. Those are artistic decisions that made me fall in love with this album.
To be fair, satellite, I'm not surprised by the reactions here... In fact I can understand them. but this... cartoonish delivery sticks in my mind leading up to and following the song. Maybe it's my (diagnosed) ocd, but changing those five seconds is why I'm able to listen to this album 2-3 times a day.
|
| |
how'd you fix it man pitch shift? vocal removal? or just snip that few seconds out?

Snipped it out, did some cross fades from "nothing can be perfect.." line into jesses call back of 'judge you by your thoughts' so it keeps the same count

the fish line is terrible yeh. i can understand cutting it out. ive done that with songs before.

first time i hear of people digitally manipulating albums to "fix" the listening experience. that's kind of disturbing to me

Not sure if i get why you hate that line so much (we're talking about at the bottom of the ocean, right?)

genius says it's a possible reference to "luca" which also has a fish/ocean lyric
