I always thought Gatorade tasted kind of like what Jello would taste like if it stayed liquid.

the high points are so high but the pacing is roughhhhh, second half just kills all the momentum even if the individual tracks are alright.
jack antonoff needs to never do a (reprise) again

I hate it when annoying pop shit like
"broadcast the boomboomboom and make 'em all dance to it"
breaks otherwise monumentally affecting tracks apart

I don't feel it as an intrusion of some other sensibility into lorde's practice: it seems pretty lorde-y to me, more like "don't you hate the way everybody talks" or whatever from "tennis court" and "we order different drinks at the same bars" (which, like, what? Are you trying to say ok lorde) than like Katy perry or something but I don't love that element, when it's really clunky. Somehow I see it though as collateral damage from her overall artistic sensibility of portraying young love and getting into the (melo)drama of it, except I think the peaks are higher on PH and there might be more "damage" on this album
Anyways

Sometimes I have a sense that art is really really driven formally by someone's personality and then it's almost like a real person: theres a compelling case suddenly for taking the bad with the good, or at least acknowledging that they have the same source: Lorde? Dunno

but I also understand: it's a thing you don't like. Me too, I don't really like that part of the louvre which is otherwise one of my faves

Love this take, and find myself following the same train of thought when it comes to factoring in the 'flaws' of an album. Conversely I also disregard certain albums based on the personality on display.
