It has been the kind of album that draws you further in with repeat listens in my experience. If you like anything you've heard you should probably just dive in.

Yeah forgot how crushing the lyrics were, and the delivery is dramatic and perfect.

the monologue in ballad is total cringe. i know it's supposed to be "empowering" to depressed millenials but it just comes across as whiny and pathetic

dont think its meant to be empowering tbh, just a collective acceptance that dealing with normal aspects of living an independent 'adult' life can be tricky at times, something I think people from all generations and backgrounds can relate to. To dismiss it as whiny when I think the essence of what he is talking about is quite so universal is something I don't get, especially as I don't think its presented in a 'god my life is so much harder than everyone else's' way, or even a statement that its utterly unbearable or (in the grand scheme of things) all that hard, more just that it isn't always easy. But fair play man, each to his own interpretation, and clearly I'm biased haha

we all are, but it seriously is pretty stupid to call that part whiny and pathetic, I don't think you are very familiar with this band

I don't think it's empowering or whiny, I think it's weird and enigmatic and incredibly affecting. Best part is the Dido interpolation tho
