I feel like it might have been over-hyped at the time of the release, and then counteracted with an (understandable) over-correction. Trajectory of the ratings by time is interesting: nothing in the beginning was under a 4.5, and then nothing later over a 3.0/3.5. I mean, that's an exaggeration, but still.

his live show blew me away. songs sounded better in person. his voice sounded better in person. acoustics were immaculate. light show was incredible. for some reason i wasn't expecting the 12 minute dubstep breaks
only negative was he didn't play a single song from this album

Envious. Seen some short vids on his insta, and he seems incredible live, yeah. Weird he didn't play anything from this; good mix of old and new otherwise?

Guys is the new album good
I hated the last one very much

...yes, very good, but I also loved the last one, so make of that what you will. If you don't like his softer ballad work and more conventional song structures, maybe worth skipping. The singles Say What You Will and Life is Not the Same are pretty good indications of sound.
