Tool is a great band not just for Maynard's writings and lyrics but Danny Carey on drums is phenominal his drum set isn't your basic drum set-up. Adam Jones not only rated one of the best guitarists of all time is also an artist designing all of Tool's albums and their video's. He worked on movies such as Jurassic Park, Freddy Kruger, etc. Justin Chancellor has been playing Bass all his life starting in his home country of England. The product of a good band is based on a group of talented musicians. To me seeing a band live is a true tell all of their talents. And Tool live is just like listening to the album they are repetitive and consistent.
