It's like talking a journey across planet Ne Obliviscaris when listening to both albums strait through

as much as I really like both albums, I could not sit through that. I can do Remission-Leviathan-

Blood Mountain-Crack the Skye, but this is way too dense.

dinner is best because you can have more dessert with your dinner. Breakfast you can have chocolate chip waffles and sweet rolls, sure, but generally cake is for dinner. And Cake >>>

and by "more dessert" I mean "you can eat more sweets without having to worry about a stomach ache messing up the rest of your day because it's already the end of your day so go nuts."

I prefer Portal out of nostalgia. I am honestly thinking about bumping this down to a 4 due to the production. With repeated listens, the drum sound and the layered vocals hinder the experience for me, and it's a shame as the songs are extremely tight.

The first thing that strikes me is the production. Well balanced sound and huge sound stage.

Couldn't agree more. The super polished production really brings out all the qualities of each instrument

I was absolutely surprised by this album. Easily one of the best offerings of technical metal I have heard for a very long time. There is not one low point on this mammoth of a record, so so good!

Prog metal and metal in general sure have lots of amazing releases this year, this one included. I would now put this as my second favorite metal album of this year next to the Joy of Motion. It really provides a balance in the progressive scene considering how much I hated the recent Yes album.
