Whaaaaat, 'We Are Destroyer' might be my favorite opener by the band.
@Ecnal yeah I know what you meant by the noises. It never really bothered me though.

Haha thanks storm, you're too nice.
And whaaat toxin? You mean to tell me you like it more than self starter, godspeed, and the resistance?

I'm with Toxin, We Are Destroyer is probably my favorite opener of theirs

I'd say We Are Destroyer is a close third with The Resistance, following Godspeed and Self-Starter of course.

Couldn't disagree more (with toxin and fallenbird), but opinions are opinions.

Lyrically it's easily their best opener (imo) and the energy in the chorus just trumps any of the others.

Gotcha, toxy. They just feel out of place to me, not sure why.
I'm pretty sure Resistance is my favorite opener. I'm actually not super fond of Self Starter as an opening track, tho, even tho I still like the song. I wish they would have done Someone, Anyone as the opener instead on Vital.

@SS,
Well it's hard comparing some of their best songs, so I can't really say definitively one way or the other. I think what I really like about 'We Are Destroyer' is how melodic they make that relatively heavy chorus. In fact I think it's one of their best choruses in the entire discog. 'The Resistance' does this extremely well, too, but we're talking about degrees here, and there's just a little more color in 'We Are Destroyer.'
'Never Take Friendship Personal' and especially 'We Owe This To Ourselves' don't have choruses up to snuff, and 'Ready Fuels' is just a little sparse.
'Self-Starter' and 'Godspeed' are the two that I would also say might be my favorite, depending on the day. 'Godspeed' might have the band's best verse, and 'Self-Starter' is all around an awesome song (the bridge is a bit lacking though). I'd still say 'We Are Destroyer' has the best chorus of the lot, though.
I'd rather put it in tiers:
A+: Godspeed, Self-Starter, We Are Destroyer
A: Resistance
A-: Ready Fuels
B: Never Take Friendship Personal
C+: We Owe This To Ourselves
@Ecnal, that's interesting. 'Godspeed' aside, it seems their openers were always their heavier songs, but I could see 'Someone, Anyone' being a pretty great opener as well.

Actually you know 'The Resistance' (not sure why I called it 'Resistance' before) might be in the A+ tier as well lol.

Readyfuels was the first Anberlin song I ever heard back when it was a single or video or whatever you want to cal lit, and I still really like it.

Readyfuels is awesome, no doubt. I hate trying to rank Anberlin's openers for this reason. They're pretty much all great. Even NTFP I end up really liking at times. The only thing I can say for sure is that We Owe This To Ourselves is my least favorite

Lol I almost feel bad for it, since it has such a kicking bridge. Then that chorus comes up again

I still like We Owe This to Ourselves, it's just rather weak as an opener.

Well, all of the more (or both, I guess) 'aggressive' tracks on Dark/Light have iffy spots on them. I don't know if To The Wolves would have done any better in the opening spot as We Owe This does, even tho I do think it's a better song.
Dark/Light doesn't really compare to the other albums when it comes to having strong opener/closer (Blueprints closer isn't really anything special either, but they didn't start that whole business until Friendship). Depraved is a pretty good song, but it doesn't have that grandiose feel that Fin, Miserabile, God Sex and Drugs, and dance dance Christa does.

Depraved > Dance Dance

Dance Dance is so slick and soulless, I think the atmosphere of the song nails the lyrics. I don't actively listen to it too much but I prefer it to Depraved (which I think is underrated as far as Anberlin songs go)
