Yeah I can actually understand the hate, but people should criticize this new single with the proper context. The new Macintosh Plus is early 2000s glitch/IDM put into the context of modern day - it's akin to anything from Darla Records circa the year 2000/1999. Check Technicolor. Check Vladislav Delay (Mille Plateaux). Or Oval or Sweet Trip. Flow Chart has been doing stuff like this since literally '96. It has very little to do with plunderphonics or these other labels (I imagine mostly kids) are throwing at it. It doesn't describe the music at play here.
It's not a vaporwave release, the artist stated herself she wishes to move into abstract electronic territory and as polar opposite of Floral Shoppe as she can get.

Like if you hate Sick & Panic, cool, but at least know what you're listening to

This album has some chill tunes but man has it grown off me over the years. Its very simple, at times comes off as too simple for me to give it my full appreciation.

It's just long and boring most of the time but it has some cool aesthetics I guess. I found James Ferraro's Far Side Virtual way more representative of the vaporwave phenomenon. This just felt empty and manipulative.

AnimalsAsSummit it's not really because the piece is considered "bad vaporwave", it's just that it's completely vapid and capitalizes on extremely overdone "experimental electro" tropes
Vektroid decided to be different just for the sake of it, and the end product lacks any sort of gusto or impact due to this.

disagree hard. for years i've always loved the booty bass and electro sound. the track is just perfect for me, and with most things i'm very hard to please. this was immediate satisfaction. cannot wait for the album. she needs to announce the damn album.
"some cool aesthetics I guess" its all about mood homie. most songs skip a beat when it comes to mood and it destroys the track.

the end result is still an over indulgent piece of shite IMO
of course, I can equally be hard to interest, and you're entitled to your opinion(as much as I disagree with it) but seriously this must be one of the most cliched tracks I've ever heard. Without caring for context, it's fine, but I can't remove the context from my listening appreciation. I consider Floral Shoppe to be miles above Sick and Panic, simply because Sick and Panic is a trend hopper, while Floral Shoppe was an influential, defining release.

fair enough. i fail to see how the new track follows trend though. everyone says it's like PC Music but it has very little in common with bubblegum bass, or pop for that matter.

Dream Sequins is literally a near-masterpiece in (vapor)signalwave you clippernapper
|
| |
Nah. Vaporwave is as close to producing a masterpiece as youtube lo-fi hip hop is. Pharma was pretty great tho.
