I regret my comment. I jumped the gun. Hadn't heard all of their albums in a year or so, started here an immediately remembered how good it was. Continued and decided Two Hunters And Black Cascade are way better. Diadem owns too. Not sure I can pick a favorite at this point.

there are at least four very good songs here. It's short of the other albums but I'm glad it exists.

Two Hunters > Black Cascade > Diadem > Celestial > Celestite, but still this is a pretty decent album. They don't have any bad albums.

Them opening with Queen of Borrowed Light was perfect.

Astral Blood is the only great track :3 and that one ends too soon so even it's not that great.

Thuja, Subterranean, Woodland, Astral and Prayer are all engaging to say the least. Dunno what some of you are smoking.

idk what it is but Thuja always just seems kind of clunky to me. Subterranean is OK, but not as good as any Cascade track. And Prayer is just ten minutes of drone with no climax and an awful bookend.

I just really prefer the dynamics of this as opposed to the more straight-forwardness of Cascade I guess.

the dynamics bother me even more. Two interludes and an ambient track that's basically just Cleansing II, all sandwiched among the four actual songs is gross.

I meant of the actual songs mostly. Can see how the interludes could throw people off but idk they don't bother me at all. I just liked this on first listen when the first notes and atmosphere of Thuja came in. BC was a bit different in that regard unfortunately.

it's the order that puts a big hole in the center of the album. Woodland Cathedral can feel like a chore after Rainbow Illness rather than a change of page.

No, Pleb. Sadly, it does not rule. Thuja Magus and Astral Blood do, at least.
