It might be mine as well, though I've never really thought about how to rank all the stuff from last year. Definitely the best surprise album of the year I'd say.

Acanthus, if they have a mediocre second album I'll blame you for jinxing it! Just a warning...

If the entire album was as tight as Empire - A New Aurora is, then it would definitely be a 5... I can't find a single thing I dislike about either of those songs.

If they tour they had better get some insane opening bands, I can't see them really opening for anyone without flat out decimating them. Most of the bands that I could see them with they will probably never get paired with sadly.

From what I've seen in their live videos (an old version of A New Aurora, back in 2007) ,it seems it took them so many years to perfect these songs.



A new album seem like a real long stretch away to make if they make it as good as this.
