That is a very good question. I don't think t will be long before Skrillex hops on the next fad bandwagon. He seems to have a very keen sense of what is popular, but if the next fad contains musical complexity beyond what he can perform... Then he'll most likely die off when that movement comes around.

I'd think he'd probably be labelled as an innovator, like when he made that drum & bass track - because you know, that genre isn't 20+ years old

According to the general public it's not, and apperantly that's all that matters.
BUT WE'LL KNOW THE TRUTH.

"I mean just look at his live show to realise he really doesn't have a clue as to what he's doing"

"Percent of the time doing something an actual electronica artist would do at a concert- 15%"
Should change that to
Percent of the time moving his hands around the board to look busy - 14%
Percent of the time actually doing something - 1%

I stand by my statement.

I just wonder: is he making music for himself, or for his fans?
Pretty obviously the former if you ask me.

"I have a bruise on my rib"
"not to mention there's a video where he stage dives during a section someone would need to be adjusting things."

Like I'm not criticizing him for not mixing live, because there's very few who can do that, and seamlessly as well. But those artists normally spend time in advance working on a mix at home, Sonny doesn't even do that. He literally just queues up mp3's in a playlist (on itunes for all I know) and presses play. And at the end of every track he stops, and talks to the audience..... at great length. This is supposed to be a dance gig, cutting the beat out isn't going to work

Probably because he looks like Corey Feldman
Guaranteed success

The fat kid in the background with his hood up over his cap doing the finger guns at the 2:00 minute mark cracks me up. Kids need to learn how to dance

That music alone isn't something to dance to
