In Division opens with a curb stomp, so I knew it was gonna be good. Then the album kinda lulls a bit with Catch and then rocks all the way to Reversal, lulls and then rapes face with renewed vigor the rest of the way to home plate.

Pretty much, the ehhh-ness of half of the album is what keeps it from being more than a 3.5.

Wow what? That I realize that merely mentioning ones religion isn't "preaching"?

That I actually bring up valid points and lyrical exerpts rather than repeating "THAT'S MY OPINION"

on a topic that's about the subject of text?

Was that what you were arguing on? I said repeatedly that I didn't care how others interpreted the

lyrics. A "That's my opinion" was not what I was trying to get across. My point was that I

interpreted the lyrics differently than you.

My original sentence was "It's metalcore done well; not wholly original, and the Christian influence

is kind of annoying." I was only trying to add a grain of what I thought of the album, as, afterall,

this is a site where you share your opinions on music. I was never trying to start a debate, nor was

I trying to piss people off. I like that August Burns Red doesn't do things like 5 minute prayers,

and that their lyrics aren't trying to "teach" you a lesson about god, much like Underoath has and

still does. That doesn't mean that they're better than Underoath though, it's just my preference.

So am I gonna get castrated for saying that this is really good, but everything else that Underoath has done ranges from decent (LOTSOS, DTGL) to crap (everything else)?

If you interperate:

"God take me, because I hate me" as preachy, then you're a moron.

But they do.

THAT'S the whole argument.

I just listed tons of both bands lyrics, to point out that Underoath DOESN'T do that and that ABR DOES.

Almost all of ABR's songs can be summarized as, "You are hypocrites and should find God."

Your due date is up.

Don't make comments on irrelevant subjects.

There is a man who seeks his own happiness,

and his smile is warmer than five of yours.

You keep singing to a tasteless song.

He whistles to a song of hope.

A night of foolish chatter is easily replaced by a couple bold statements.

Few words are gold, and living is offensive in itself.

Your shallow ideals are about as useless as the gnats in my eyes.

Wake up.

Put your heart where your mouth is.

Stop avoiding this, explain how that's not preachy.

And explain how this is preachy while you're at it:

I kept silent and it rained for days

My insides were drenched,

but I guess that's the part of growing up

I never wanted to learn

And I grew into the man that you never knew

And I wouldn't be this way if it wasn't for you

One hundred thank yous

If this is love, then the fairy tales never came true

Judies are black and won't bloom

And I died in the womb

Taking back all that's gone

This room's still here like you left it

December never changed

Nothing ever changed but you

Love can't fly tonight

Couples will rest

And I'll be sleepless

This is about broken hearts

This is about me

Bending again for nothing

Nothing

I'd run to you but pain awaits

I'm coming home but I'll be late

No deeper than imagination

Sight with nothing to see

God take me

Because I hate me

And then explain how the Underoath lyrics (the second selection) are more preachy than the August Burns Red lyrics (first selection).

Mostly because I'm completely baffled as to how you can construe love songs and songs about drug addictions to being preachy, but then turn around and say militant Christian lyricism isn't preachy.

The irony is blowing my mind.

He just keeps coming back saying, "IT'S MY OPINION," when the song topics are clearly not what he's claiming them to be.

Both bands are awesome: there's no point in arguing about the lyrics. And holy shit, I left for 2 days and this shit jumped to almost 1000 comments.
