As an album this is better but nothing beats Octavarium's T/T. Panic Attack rules too

Every single moment of this album rules (except the fucking shit that is A Rite of Passage) but the whole thing is soooo disjointed and incoherent. Basically, every part of A Nightmare to Remember feels like it's out of nowhere, and The Shattered Fortress is arguably the worst possible finale they could've done for The Twelve-Step Suite.

The Count of Tuscany fucking rules though

A Rite Of Passage isn't that bad, just that solo is so unnecessary. The Best Of Times is probably my favourite song on this and I agree with A Nightmare being disjointed, especially when Portnoy starts to groan.
The first minute of The Shattered Fortress was promising but then it's just awfully lazy

The ballads are gay and a rite of passage is kind of embarrassing except the solos but everything else is awesome

Not even The Best Of Times? It's the most passionate Dream Theater song since The Root Of All Evil

H no. Best of Times is a good example of the sappy, boring stuff I dont like about Dream Theater. I'm not the biggest DT fan to begin with. They are VERY hit and miss with me. Their songs either kick balls, or suck balls.

Fair enough. I've grown out of them recently and I've only really listened to stuff from TOT. Didn't help that the self titled was a boring slab of heard it all before

I've kind of grown out of them too but I still love them and this album has nostalgia factor for me as it was one of the first I heard by them. Best of times isn't bad at all and neither is wither they're just kinda cheesy but above average for DT ballads
