"oh come on don't encourage them"
So you oppose what this site is for then? Discussing music?
"All right Evreaia what is your biggest qualm with this album?"
Repetitive, except for 1 or 2 songs nothing stands out because it all sounds the same. Sam's limited range and too forced screaming (for my liking) also is something I can't listen to for too long.
Also, they went less chaotic with Ruin but they almost totally ditched the chaos with this album. Songs where also less fun to listen to compared to Nightmares/ruin.
So yeah, boring + vocals I don't like = not an awful lot left to be exited about, especially since they proved they could do so much better.
Not my cup of tea.

^ 123, generic metalcore ect pp blah blah
|

Didn't say it was generic (as I can't pin point anything that sounds the same). The songs just where to similar. Couple that with a vocals I don't like and yeah.. 2.5 for me

Monotonous songs (or album concept) and standardized structures? Idk, that pretty much constitutes to being "generic".
|
| |
I was talking about how every song from HC relates to another song on HC. HC seemed to be a single song, just a lot of times in a row.

The only discussions on architects threads these days are always malleus or thunderfaggot etc going "lol 5" for entire pages
majority of this thread too
gets really tiresome

"I was talking about how every song from HC relates to another song on HC. HC seemed to be a single song, just a lot of times in a row."
Yeah, that's monotony. Or did my dictionary trick me into believing monotony might not have anything to do with repetitions?

yes
"Generic"
No
"Yeah, that's monotony. Or did my dictionary trick me into believing monotony might not have anything to do with repetitions?"
Yes, but monotony doesn't equal generic for me. (generic = unoriginal, no own identity).
You can see the term on multiple ways, I for one acknowledge Architects own style (which doesn't makes them generic in my eyes). But each song lack it's own identity (which can also be seen as generic in someone else his view).
|
| |
Idk, I'm a pretty practical person. So to me generic is more on the level of structure and composition, monotonous and common structures and the lack of elements that make the album stand out from other releases = generic.
|
| |
Like I said, it can be seen in multiple view point.
For me generic means the band does nothing do differentiate itself from the horde. Architect does
that, I can clearly hear them when offered some random songs. Which don't make them generic to me
My qualm with (new) Architects is that every song just sounds the same, which doesn't make it a
compelling listen. I get the feeling I heard the entire album after only hearing 2-3 songs.

Wolfhorde that would just make it simple and nothing groundbreaking. Not generic.
And I see Evreaia, I personally think Sam is great. And I've listened to this so many times that the songs don't run together for me
