“So I was expecting something a little different here but alas it is still recognisable as grind, I can tell the tracks apart so I guess it’s got that going for it.”

Is it being a grindcore album by default a detriment to its quality?

What's making it hard to get into for you currently, Raw? I mean obviously it's grindcore and that's inaccessible enough, but this record has so many melodic and beautiful moments for me. Plus the dynamic drumming, unique riffing and scathing/painful vocals all create this blend that caught me on my first listen. Also to Kompys2000, Jouhou is almost as good as this imo. Has several stand out tracks.

Yeah Rowhaus, that's my favorite DA song. It's basically like grind meets posthardcore to me and it FUCKS. It just grooves and sings and pulverizes.

And to Raw, I guess it comes down to inherent musical preferences. A pure grind fan that really loves Insect Warfare might think "fuck all this melody and weird structure" whereas a non-grind fan might find this more accessible. And someone who is in the middle may find it satisfying or dissatisfying on both levels. lol It's brutal as shit like any good grind record but it has all these heady, artful edges that carve out an individual niche for it.
