I know some people here like their last two albums, but I just don't get it. Mylo is like the definition of cheese and Ghost Stories is a snore.

Mylo Xyloto was good too in a fun, over-the-top way, but yeah this is the only relatively modern Coldplay album with permanent staying power. Just has a classic feel to it, although a lot of the tracks are too weak to justify that rating.

This is a very well constructed album. I like the cyclical nature with the theme from Life in Technicolor repeating at the end, and most of the tracks have a beautiful, dreamlike quality. They seem distant from reality, but there's also something very relatable about them.

Agreed. And it may just be the cover, but I've always gotten a revolutionary war vibe from the album.

I don't really hear that, except for on maybe Violet Hill.
Chinese Sleep Chant is easily one of Coldplay's greatest songs.

It conveys special emotions and the production builds a very special atmosphere, this is really an excellent record overall.

Yeah like I said it might just be the cover, I'm really visual and sometimes stuff like that influences how I perceive music without me even being aware of it.
My top 3 Coldplay tracks, regardless of album, are Violet Hill, Shiver, and The Scientist.

I would say that the best tracks in here are Violet Hill and Yes, I really love those strings.

Yes is a killer track too, agreed.
For this album, it probably goes Violet Hill > Death and All His Friends > Viva La Vida > Yes > the rest

Oh and almost forgot about Lovers in Japan/Reign of Love, the "Reign of Love" half of that is downright beautiful.

The Scientist or A Rush of Blood to the Head is probably their greatest song for me.
Coldplay were the first band I truly loved, and for about a year I listened to their stuff pretty much exclusively, so I hardly listen to them anymore, but this and Rush have never lost their magic.

The second half of this album trumps the first for me. I like Cemeteries of London and Lost! but they are easily the weakest songs here.

Yeah it's so weird how albums we listen to at the beginning of our interest in music stay with us forever. Ocean Avenue, American Idiot, and Futures were like the trifecta for me, and even though I don't necessarily relate to any of those anymore, they're all 4.5's or 5's because of how they still make me feel when I hear them.

A Rush of Bood to the Head is probably in my top 5 Coldplay songs, along with Spies, Don't Panic, Violet Hill and Yes

The only tracks I don't enjoy from here are Lovers in Japan, Reign of Love and The Escapist.
