how soon do you think we'll get a a proper 'greatest hits' album now that chester is gone?
gotta cash in on all that media coverage

Eh I don't see why anything in 2003 would need a remaster tbh, especially since this album had a huge budget. It was probably recorded directly to Pro Tools or some shit.
After reading wtf "remastered for iTunes" even means, it does appear to be a benefit to the audio quality but I still stand by the first paragraph.

Quite soon indeed

Road to Revolution is in and of itself a greatest hits album, even if live. And by now a ton of people have already owned some extent of the bands' albums so it would be pretty transparent and scummy to release a "greatest hits"
Also, no need for great remastering jobs when the vinyls sound very good. Have vinyl rips downloaded from Meteora up to A Thousand Suns and own the vinyls for The Hunting Party and Living Things and they all sound marvelous

To be fair though, a lot of times it's labels that want to release Greatest Hits as opposed to the band themselves. It really is a money grab in most (all) cases though.

Pretty much, which is why it will happen

Truth be told, a lot of mid 2000's records could benefit from proper remasters cuz they can be brickwalled as hell.

That's true tho... not everyone has the resources to buy vinyl or pirate/buy good HDTracks remasters

"Truth be told, a lot of mid 2000's records could benefit from proper remasters cuz they can be brickwalled as hell."
True, but shit is still brickwalled to hell these days no?

Streaming services will likely kill off greatest hits albums. They aren't really necessary when you already have easy access to all the hits on demand

It sucks that physical copies of music are quickly becoming niche.

@bloc Yes, but now there are more engineers who know how to make the most out of a low DR framework, so they can sound better.
