Randy's an active dude for his age. Plus he is acutely aware of his stage presence and I think trains for it prior to tours starting.

Randy really impressed me at Red Rocks. Perfect vocals at high altitude and no backing vocals from other members. Even crazier how he was running around the stage constantly. Blew Mastodon out the water in all honesty

Modern day Mastodon blows live. I've commented on it before but LoG eats their proverbial lunch.

Randy is literally one of the best metal frontmen ever, and arguably the GOAT of harsh vocals live. I wish I shared enthusiasm for their recent liveshows, though...could just be that I'm old enough to have experienced them going all the way back to '04 but they don't even begin to touch what their live show used to be. Except for Randy and Art, who absolutely carry them at this point. Mark is a fat statue, Willy is a skinny statue, and John was always a statue. No shade, my knees hurt for weeks after leg day and they've got me by at least ten years. They sound better than ever and have more elaborate sets, but I will always miss their small club shows.
And yeah, Mastodon is definitely in the lower tier of live bands imo. Musically amazing but it's more of a psychedlic / trance vibe, and their vocals are and have always been god awful.

I mean fuck just look at how Randy absolutely bodied Mitch Lucker's memorial performance. Phil is rightly remembered for that show, but Randy was the one with aura, even on a stage with Robb Flynn.

"They are amazing live. Saw them in 2018 and it was one of the best live shows I've ever seen."
With Slayer on their "farewell tour"? Yeah those tours were unbelievable

Yeah, LoG shows were always carried by Randy. Mark and Campbell never move and Willie has gotten a little better but really he just does his "back-to-back let's be Axl and Slash" with Randy before going back to his mark. Cruz just comes off like an excited labrador who can kill a drumkit but is a great hype man for Randy I think.
I can't imagine what they were like when during their Palaces era. I mean that was still at the time that Randy would orchestrate walls of death in the pit. Dude loved a politely violent crowd.

I think you gotta mention Myke Terry too for that Mitch Lucker memorial show. Dude brought insane energy

Also I did not know about Chris Adler working at Home Depot, that’s kind of depressing but par for the course in metal I guess. Reminds me of Muhammed from Necrophagist disappearing and just working as an engineer for BMW now or something

@Phil yeah honestly everyone did an amazing job. Phil's performance kinda gobbled up all the attention.
