I constantly checked live stuff from the Gore era because there are so many good songs on that album they barely played or didn't at all. It was a bit disappointing tbh. Nice to see Prayers/Triangles back in the setlists though. I hope they will gradually add more songs from Ohms in the set.

ngl chino sounded kinda ass live. it seemed like he gassed himself early on running around on stage n shit cuz his energy was a lil meh halfway thru. also he kept doing this pterodactyl screech and it was atrocious.
the set list was unbelievable tho

@kev
Dead ass that’s probably exactly what happened. He killed it during Genesis and everything after that was downhill. I don’t think he sounded bad, but fucks sake it felt like he didn’t sing half the time.
And I didn’t really think the set list was all that good either. Lovers was cool as shit, and I dug that they’re playing Bloody Cape and Beware but again Chino half assed both of those songs. Every other song was the same shit we’ve all heard before.

basically, yep. he couldn’t hit most the notes or sustain them. beware was cool to see but literally just did BE………………..WARE, didn’t even try.
also his timing for a lot of deliveries were split seconds off sometimes. kinda annoying, still a cool show. i can get the frustration tho if they typically play the same songs every tour. that was my first time tho so i ain’t complainin

oh yeah thats a sweet setlist if you've never seen them, but next tour its time to get rid of some of these tracks theyve played a million times.
hot take, but its time to get rid of Diamond Eyes, Swerve City, Rocket Skates, the obligatory Adrenaline encore song etc. I know they cant just stop playing certain songs because theyre just too popular (BQAD, Change, Digital Bath), but it sucks that I've seen them five times over the last ten years and have maybe only heard 30 different songs from them, especially when they're putting out great new shit like Ohms.

that’s definitely gotta be frustrating esp considering this is an ohms support tour. i’ll be honest i was hoping/expecting some more SNW or the t/t and was surprised at how many KNY

I feel like they always play Rosemary, which I'm fine with since it might be my favorite of theirs. And yeah, I'd welcome more self titled and especially SNW, but honestly we're lucky we got even one from each. and Lovers was very unexpected

"basically, yep. he couldn’t hit most the notes or sustain them. beware was cool to see but literally just did BE………………..WARE, didn’t even try."
Honestly I watched a few videos from the concerts and he sounded.. good?! Some of the recent digital bath performances for example sound so much better than most of the time I've seen him in recent years and he did hit those notes. The only thing is it seemed he was getting out of breath on some of the songs and he was missing the timings which made him skip parts of the songs which is not optimal yeah.
As for Beware, he never could sing that chorus live as it is in studio so that's not anything new.

yeah but man he wasn’t even singing the verses in beware, at least in Portland. It was more of a half assed shout. And like I said he didn’t even do the outro for Bloody Cape, which is my favorite part of the song.
I’m sorry, I love this band but that performance was mid as fuck. The new bassist was fine, I’m glad they finally brought on a second guitarist, so I guess it really just comes down to Chino. I really hope it’s just them not having played in three fucking years but idk, it was fine but I’m not paying that much for Deftones tickets again if they’re gonna keep sounding like that.
And like I’ve said so many times they literally played two songs off Ohms. This isn’t Gore, most fans actually loved the album, I have no idea why they’d only play two tracks off it.
Im getting sidetracked as fuck but Gojira really might’ve outperformed them, and I don’t even like Gojira, they killed it.

"the obligatory Adrenaline encore song etc."
the adrenaline songs are low key the best parts of their sets tbh. they just seem to hit another gear when they play those songs idk what it is
but yeah I agree at their current ticket prices (which seem to be as high as ever?), coupled with playing the same setlist since the KNY-era more or less, I'm not sure I can rationalize paying to see them again

There's not much to return to here. The melodies are kind of weak, the only song that goes in is weak compared to their heaviest songs, the choruses aren't particularly memorable. Hoping the next one kicks it up a notch

Disagree hard about the choruses.
Genesis, Ceremony, Radiant City, and the title track all have great choruses imo

Second half of Error is an easy career highlight imo, the kind of thing that single-handedly "makes you like a band more", so to speak
