I'll bet you anything that if the new Vektor were to ever come out, it'll be in like another 5 years and the fans will be greatly disappointed with it

Only 5 years?

Yeah I have no reason to believe the guy isn't an absolute genius, so although tempering my expectations would be the wise choice, they'd likely struggle to stay in check. It's probably not happening though, so whatever (that's what I keep telling myself).

I can see Monsanto making a competent follow-up in 5 years. There's nothing groundbreaking here. They just did their own thing really really well.

Where is Ericwithafro, he could shed some light on these mysteries.

"Voivod and Coroner are better than Vektor"

The same senseless comparison, on endless repeat. Why do I never read statements such as:

Realm and Absu are better than Vektor

Sput ?

Why are we comparing unrelated bands in the first place? I'm all for open discussion on music, but comparing subjective feelings generally doesn't lead to very interesting conversations. Not saying that everyone here is looking for interesting conversations either.

The annoying thing about those comments is the bands don't even sound that alike, not to the point where the comparison needs to be made. Influence is not akin to plagiarism, or even likeness necessarily, at least in terms of the end result. I swear this doesn't happen in other threads (for different genres), must be a thrash thing.

Absu share some similarities from the little I've heard.

tbf, I can sorta hear the Voivod comparison. Still, that doesn't mean I care to get into the "x band is better than y band" argument

Absu's 'Mara' is amazing, for sure.

Not better than Terminal Redux though.

Absu is in my personal top 3. And this music is very related to that blackened thrash.

The comparison is apt indeed, whereas the Voivod comparisons are obvious but failed attempts to seem like a metal scholar.

I'd say that around 85% of the musical comparisons I see on this site are failed attempts to seem like a metal scholar, from both new and established members. Pretty funny considering so many of them take themselves and their opinions so seriously tbh.

The way they transpose melodies here reminds me of Bartok.

The awkward moment when I reveal that I'm actually Ericwithafro who just logs in sometimes with a VPN.
