I like cxz (most 'Around the Fur' sounding tune)...for me 'cxz' to 'cut hands' is my favourite run of tracks on the album

Cut Hands is good but that's partially because it has basically the same riff as Diamond Eyes. They got lazy tbh

'nothing really sounds like around the fur on here to me, very unique album in their discog'

Maybe it just sounds the most '90s? I respect the directness of it anyway, great heavy palate cleanser.

'I Think About You' is one of their better 'ballads' following it as well, good track placing.

Then 'Madonna' is my favourite here with a very Smashing Pumpkins riff in the chorus, and 'Cut Hands' is again a bit of a throwback tune with one of their better recent loud/soft dynamics and a bit more experimental.

'metal dream' nearly keeps the run going but the solid work on the verse is followed by a really rote chorus - sort of press the demo button for a stock emo'y metal band chorus.

3. my mind is a mountain [4]

4. locked club [4]

5. cut hands [4]

6. i think about you all the time [4]

7. infinite source [4]

8. souvenir [3.5]

9. departing the body [3.5]

As stated before, I usually have opposite Deftones taste to most Deftones fans now.

tbh I think cXz sounds out of place, prob would’ve fit better in Ohms. It’s violent and then gets pulled the fuck back during the palm-mute meshuggah post-verse/pre-chorus thing.

album could’ve done with more souvenir outro type shit… even if it does just feel like a little interlude in between songs and not like a proper outro

the abrupt transition in the last third of souvenir is bizarre
