I actually got seated at 08:30 PM show starting late at 08:45...

They didn't sell enough tickets so the low budget all the way up there seats were upgraded and we got seated in the top one, close to the pit, for both nights.

I have noticed a lot of empty seats in the live videos I have seen.

"Sleepwalk was boring live tbh"

Hard to imagine it being more boring than it is on the record damn

I mean it got me into the vibe of the song, but the chorus got me out of it.

Tbh, the two setlists were fire though, way better than when I saw them in Lyon in 2017!

The lyrical content here is the most interesting thing about this album to me

i feel like i've been seeing this a lot on their regular tours since hardwired. even when i saw them in 2018 it felt like there were quite a few empty seats

prob has to do with their ticket prices i'd assume

It's not a popularity issue or ppl not wanting to see them that's forsure. Metallica is prob the biggest live band on the planet. Ticket prices yeah

Ticket prices are one thing, but their 2-night ticket strategy seems like it backfired big time. I didn't buy tickets, but to my understanding, if you only wanted to purchase for one night, the tickets were marked up with a premium, making it not worth it for most.

Supply and demand 101 gentlemen. Their strategy was too aggressive.

yeah i noticed that too. the 2-nighter is amazing for people who actually live in these cities, but makes it kind of impossible for people who would have to travel (which for metallica would be probably a lot of people).

its either you get completely ripped off for the one night, especially considering its a coin flip they play the songs you really want to hear the night you go... or you get a better deal on the 2-nighter but make up for it with more hotel nights/gas/vacation days etc. the shows aren't even back to back nights either.

I must add that this was in France where inflation has taken a toll on people here. It was also during a May holiday weekend, which meant that some where away.

Yeah ticket prices are part of the problem, I got my two nights for 180 euros which is like paying for two Metallica concerts in 2017 so that was fine by me. Thank god we got upgraded to seats worth at least double what we payed. Lars said in a local journal that they made 120 000 tickets on a 180 000 ticket stadium (counting the two nights).

I understand that the three necessary nights is a lot on people too, but you can also see it as two concert nights and one where you visit the city. But yeah, it's forced.

All of that being said, they really did better than in 2017, a few mistakes here and there but it was still awesome. they fucked up The Day that Never Comes intro though, that's the only one. Kirk's solos were fine.

Judging by Paris video it seems like Metallica sounds and performs live like a good dad rock band nowadays. Maybe they should tour with likes of clutch and red fang.

I don't think I ever told this story, but this album literally broke my ass. When it dropped in 2008 I went on a hike at night to jam it, and I wound up listening to it 3 times in a row in a secluded park while swinging on a swingset. It was a fantastic time. I wake up the next day and my ass cheeks are just destroyed. Pulled pork. Couldn't move for like 2 days.

Good times
