just listened again - my other problem is that there are guitar squeals every 5 seconds. I have to turn the volume down specifically for Away From God because the constant squeals wreck my eardrums.

Those squeals (pinch harmonics are what you're referring to) are present in Close to a World Below as well (and every other Immolation album). We all love those sqees and sqoos.
Maybe it's the guitar tone itself that bothers you for some reason? Those same "noises" don't bother you at all in Close?

Really hope I can make it to that tour. The only dates close enough to me are after CC drops off though. I wouldn't mind seeing them again but at least it'll be more Immolation and MA so it balances out.

The reason CC are so popular is cos of their very public controversy regarding their album covers/content in their early years.
Probably helps that they're easily one of the most accessible DM bands out there too AND one of the longest running/consistent.
