They're a dream team. I'm always going to look forward to their releases. Even if I prefer UFOF and Two Hands, this one still has a lot of songs I like on it.

"not cuz anything here’s bad, but there’s def some redundancy"

That's exactly how I feel. I've been listening to a 16-song version for a week or two and it's so much better. The songs I cut aren't bad, just inessential - and it dulls the impact.

theyre called Big Thief cause they steal attention and ratings away from better folk artists/bands like Saintseneca, Mimicking Birds, S. Carey and The Oh Hellos

I feel the same about the size of this album. There are certainly some repeated ideas on here.

Black Crow/Forgiver is an incredible song and - along with Mary - was a highlight of the concert in Montreal for me

Hoping that once they're done touring for this one they'll announce another album with some (or all) of the outtakes from these sessions

And hearing the brand new songs Lenker's apparently been writing on tour (Sadness as a Gift!!!, Once a Bunch of Times, Wait a While), it sounds like they're going further into country folk territory

butt.

I’m definitely struggling to see how the new S. Carey is better than this (it’s not bad though)

I'm not saying any of those are bad folk bands, but to say another band is "taking away" from them is funny

Here for the Saintseneca love

May bump this down to a three. I never have any sort of desire to listen to it. Although I wouldn’t phrase it like Colton, there are a ton of other folk records I would put on first before choosing this one. Gotta listen to it again to see if I find something more to it, but the struggle is I don’t really want to listen to it

butt.
