heh i wouldn't compare... austin is an amazing, passionate artist who makes deeply personal pieces of art. not comfortable with comparing that - he's expressing something completely different to me and i'm thankful for that.

"better than Panopticon" lame, tired comparison. The two have very little in common aside from being under the same general subgenre and having long songs. Both this and the new Panopticon are among some of the best pieces of music to come out of the black metal genre in recent memory and simply enjoying both is way cooler and less lame than making idiotic comparisons between the two

Thanks for your thoughtful words on how I should think and enjoy things (or not, as the case may be)

If I knew three word throwaway comments would generate such a seething response, I'd post them more regularly

I mean you read the initial comment, right?

Initial comment was accurate enough to sledgehammer down the walls of comparative decorum

I said it on my aoty list but what are the chances of a Panopticon / Ethereal Shroud collaboration Joe? And I'm not talking about a split. I think you both could create something really special.

we've never discussed a collaboration but it would definitely be interesting. we've spoken a bit about our individual works. i'd really want it to be a meaningful collaboration with a common thread - we do have identical views politically and environmentally so there'd definitely be something for us to work mutually on. right now i'm really focussed on other things i've wrote - the follow up to this and another record i've written for a separate project. we'll see!

Sounds promising. Yeah I have the feeling that you guys would work great together, but I also understand that working on your own vs. working with someone else is an entirely different story.
I'm completely sure on the other hand that this site wouldn't be able to handle it. We'd melt to oblivion.
